Founded in 2013, Pure Cashmere NYC has always maintained an innovative approach within the fashion industry. Their thoughtful collections of accessible cashmere are both unique and affordable without sacrificing quality—making them a Garmentory favorite long before they joined the platform in 2021. So, when we say their newest collaboration with Leandra Cohen is what dreams are made of, we mean it.
As our friends at PC say, cashmere is the premier fabric of New Yorkers in winter. The big city prioritizes both fashion and practicality, making cashmere (which is eight times warmer than wool) the perfect material. And it just so happens that NYC is the home of the brand’s newest collaborator, and my personal fashion icon, Leandra Medine Cohen.
For those not familiar with Leandra, we suggest you get acquainted. Her unique take on getting dressed is fresh, inspiring, and often filled with humor. I've followed along for many years after discovering her now-shuttered website, Man Repeller. And now with her Substack publication, The Cereal Aisle, I find that Leandra is sharper than ever.
Although I don't know her personally, she leaves no stone unturned in her writing, from the woes of mid-season dressing and roadblocks of inspiration to more serious matters of life, motherhood, and all the things in between (like what type of dips to buy at the farmer’s market). All that to say, it feels like I know her, similar to how I feel when chatting with the team at Pure Cashmere—they're open, kind, and passionate about what they do.
Leandra’s skillset in styling comes from finding additional purposes for what many consider to be a one-use item. So, of course, the pieces in this collab are no different. The sleeves on this sweater? They’re detachable. The pants? Sleek and universal, ensuring they go with every outfit. Our styling tip? Always ask yourself: What would Leandra do?
